Medical packing list
Useful medications
Paracetamol
Commonly used medication for pain relief. Helps with headaches, muscle pain or fever. Follow dosage instructions and do not exceed the recommended dose.
Dosage: Adults maximum 4 times a day 1000 mg paracetamol.
Ibuprofen
Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) for pain relief and anti-inflammation. Long-term or excessive use can cause stomach problems.
Dosage: Adults maximum 3 times a day 400 mg. May be used alongside paracetamol.
Loperamide (anti-diarrhea)
Crucial due to the high temperatures and crowds during Hajj and Umrah. Helps slow down bowel movements and prevents dehydration.
Dosage: Start with 4 mg, then 2 mg after each loose stool. Max 16 mg per day.
Desloratadine (for allergies)
Antihistamine against allergic reactions such as hay fever or insect bites. Reduces itching, runny nose and sneezing.
Dosage: Adults 5 mg once a day.
Cinnarizine (for motion sickness)
Prevents and treats motion sickness. Reduces dizziness, nausea and vomiting during travel. Note: may cause drowsiness.
Dosage: 25-50 mg 0.5-2 hours before departure, if needed 25 mg every 6-8 hours.
Antibiotics
Useful for bacterial infections such as respiratory or urinary tract infections. Use only as prescribed by a doctor. You can get these at clinics and hospitals in Saudi Arabia. Don't forget to bring your health insurance card.
ORS effervescent tablets
Essential for preventing dehydration with diarrhea or fasting. Contains electrolytes such as sodium, potassium and glucose that help restore fluid and electrolyte balance.
Strepsils (throat lozenges)
Medicinal throat lozenges for relief of sore throat and irritation. Contains antiseptic and numbing ingredients. Convenient for travel due to portability.
Special for women: delaying menstruation
Primolut N (Norethisterone)
Medication to delay menstruation. Contains synthetic progesterone and can temporarily suppress the normal menstrual cycle. Useful for women who do not want to menstruate during the rituals.
Dosage: Start 3 days before expected menstruation. 5 mg, 2-3 times a day, maximum 10-14 days. Always consult your doctor.

Hormonal contraception with estrogen and progestogen. By taking pills continuously (without the stop week) menstruation can be delayed. This maintains a constant hormone level.

Thermometer
Handy for checking fever, which is often a sign of infection. Important for quick fever detection.
Talcum powder
Prevents chafing and abrasions, especially for men with ihram clothing. Apply to sensitive areas.
Zinc ointment and vaseline
Effective for skin irritations and abrasions from long walks. Protects the skin and promotes healing.
Disinfectants and bandages
Essential for wound care. Cleaning and covering wounds prevents infection.
First aid kit
Important for minor emergencies. Contains bandages, cotton, scissors, tweezers and other necessities.
Blister plasters
Convenient given the extensive walking. Protects blisters from further friction and promotes healing.
Hand gel / disinfectant
Important due to the crowds. Regular hand cleaning prevents spread of infectious diseases.
Sunscreen
Protects against the bright sun. Use a high protection factor, especially during outdoor rituals.
