    Frequently asked questions

How does the remote malaria prescription work?

You complete the digital intake with your itinerary and medical details. A clinician personally reviews everything, decides which medication fits and calculates the correct start and stop dates. The prescription is made available to you through our patient system MijnDiad, where your medical record is kept. If information is incomplete or conflicting, the clinician may advise a consultation instead of a remote prescription.

What does a remote malaria prescription cost?

The cost is €30 for children up to 15 years and €40 from 16 years, per assessed traveller. This includes the doctor's medical review.

How quickly will I get a response?

We usually review your request within a few hours. In all cases you receive a response within 24 hours.

Can the doctor refuse my request?

Yes. If a remote prescription is not appropriate - for example in pregnancy, kidney problems or an unclear situation - the doctor advises a consultation or an alternative.

Which malaria medications does DKliniek prescribe?

Depending on destination, duration and medical background the doctor may prescribe atovaquone/proguanil (Malarone), doxycycline or, in exceptional cases, mefloquine.

Can I submit my whole family in one request?

Yes. You add fellow travellers in step 4. Every traveller answers the same medical questions so the doctor can assess each person individually.
