About Human Papillomavirus (HPV)
HPV is a common virus transmitted through sexual contact. Some types of HPV can cause cancer, including cervical cancer, throat cancer, anal cancer and penile cancer. Other types cause genital warts.
How is it transmitted?
The virus is transmitted through skin-to-skin contact, especially during sexual contact. Most sexually active people will get an HPV infection at some point.
