About Dengue (Breakbone fever)
Dengue is a viral infection transmitted by the Aedes mosquito. The disease causes high fever and severe muscle and joint pain. With repeated infection, severe (hemorrhagic) dengue can occur.
How is it transmitted?
The virus is transmitted by Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus mosquitoes, which are most active during the day. These mosquitoes are mainly found in and around built-up areas.

- Organ failure
- Death (in severe dengue without treatment)

How does it work?
The vaccine contains weakened forms of all four dengue serotypes, building protection against all types.
⏱️ When to vaccinate?
Ideally 3 months before departure (for both doses). First dose already provides some protection.
✓ Effectiveness
Approximately 80% against symptomatic dengue, 90% against severe dengue.

Not suitable for
- Pregnant women
- People with severely weakened immune system
- Children younger than 4 years
