About Hepatitis A
Hepatitis A is a liver inflammation caused by the hepatitis A virus. In children, the disease often runs milder than in adults, but they can transmit the virus. Vaccination protects the child and prevents spread to others.
How is it transmitted?
The virus spreads through the fecal-oral route: by eating or drinking contaminated food or water. Children can contract the virus through unwashed hands or toys.
