About Rabies
Rabies is a viral infection that affects the nervous system and is almost always fatal once symptoms appear. The virus is transmitted through bites or scratches from infected animals.
How is it transmitted?
Through saliva of infected animals, usually through a bite. Dogs are the main source in many countries, but cats, bats, monkeys and other mammals can also transmit rabies.
