    About the vaccination

    Vaccine type

    Inactivated vaccine

    How does it work?

The vaccine contains killed rabies viruses that train your immune system. After a bite post-vaccination, you have a head start and fewer doses are needed.

    ⏱️ When to vaccinate?

At least 1 week before departure (2 doses needed).

    ✓ Effectiveness

    Almost 100% when correctly administered.

    Who should get this vaccination?

    • Travelers to remote areas in risk countries
    • Adventure travelers (hiking, cycling, camping)
    • Long-term residents in risk areas
    • People who work with animals
    • Children (may not report bites well)

    Not suitable for

    • There are no absolute contraindications due to the severity of rabies

    Possible side effects

Pain or redness at injection site, headache.

    💡 Good to know

Preventive vaccination gives you time to seek medical help after a bite. You then don't need immunoglobulin (often not available in developing countries) and fewer additional doses.
