Yellow fever is NOT endemic, no risk. Only required when transiting from high-risk area (any transit duration). Not endemic. Only required when entering from high-risk area.

When to start vaccinating?
Plan your vaccinations ideally 6-8 weeks before departure. Some vaccinations require multiple doses for full protection. For yellow fever, you must be vaccinated at least 10 days before arrival.

Best time to travel
March to May and September to November are the most pleasant; the mountains are accessible in summer.
Malaria
Malaria risk exists in much of the country below 2,000 metres. Advice depends on your route and season.
Our advice in short
- Hepatitis A, DTP and typhoid are the core vaccinations; typhoid matters extra because of resistant strains.
- For family visits we also advise considering hepatitis B and rabies.
- Polio: for stays of four weeks or longer a booster may be required on exit.
