Pregnancy and Hajj
Pregnancy does not rule out Hajj, but the combination of a long flight, heat and days of crowding calls for careful consideration. Always discuss your plans with your midwife or obstetrician first.

Short answer
Hajj while pregnant is possible but requires consultation with your midwife or obstetrician. Most airlines allow flying until around 36 weeks in a single pregnancy, often with a statement from 28 weeks. Meningococcal ACWY is generally possible; live vaccines are avoided during pregnancy.
Planning your vaccination

Flying during pregnancy
- In an uncomplicated single pregnancy most airlines allow flying until around 36 weeks
- In a twin pregnancy the limit is often around 32 weeks
- From around 28 weeks the airline usually asks for a statement with the due date
- Rules differ per airline: check the conditions of your own flight
- Move regularly during the flight and drink enough: thrombosis risk is increased
Vaccinations during pregnancy
- Meningococcal ACWY is required for entry and can generally also be given during pregnancy
- Hepatitis A, DTP and influenza are inactivated vaccines and are generally possible
- Live vaccines such as yellow fever and MMR are avoided during pregnancy unless there is a compelling reason
- Always mention your pregnancy at the travel consultation, even if you are not yet certain
Heat, crowds and rest
Hajj in May 2027 falls in a warm period. Pregnant women dehydrate and overheat more quickly. Deliberately plan rest moments, stay out of the busiest flows at the jamarat and the tawaf, and drink plenty of water with salts.
