About Yellow fever
Yellow fever is a serious viral disease transmitted by infected mosquitoes. The name comes from the jaundice (yellow skin and eyes) that can occur in severe cases. In severe cases, the disease can be fatal.
How is it transmitted?
The virus is transmitted by the Aedes aegypti mosquito, the same mosquito that can also transmit dengue and Zika. The mosquitoes are most active during the day.

How does it work?
The vaccine contains a weakened form of the yellow fever virus. This stimulates your immune system to build protection without making you sick.

At least 10 days before departure. The official vaccination certificate is only valid 10 days after vaccination.

Very high: one dose provides lifelong protection in 99% of vaccinated individuals.

Not suitable for
- Babies younger than 6 months
- People with severe egg allergy
- People with a weakened immune system
- Pregnant women (only after careful consideration)
- People over 60 receiving their first vaccination (increased risk)
Possible side effects
Mild flu-like symptoms, local reaction at injection site. Rarely: more serious reactions.
